Can he live?! The Fresh Prince is OVER those divorce rumors and I’m swooning

It’s been a tough year for some of Hollywood’s favorite couples. First American Horror Story sweethearts Emma Roberts and Evan Peters called off their engagement. And while the pair had their ups and downs, don’t act like you didn’t just about die of envy anytime Emma shared sweet BTS pics or cuddly date night shots.

Then Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck announced they would be divorcing… a day after their ten-year anniversary. And we all resigned to the notion that love is dead.

Just days later another (nearly) decade-long couple – Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick – called it quits, followed in mid July – to country fans’ dismay – by Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton. Continue reading

It feels like a perfect night… to shut down Tinder trolls

It can be really hard to be a girl, what with all the constant scrutiny over your physical appearance alone – like, we do have brains. We’re more than just an LA face with an Oakland booty, y’all.

But as disgusting as it is, you get kind of seasoned to the constant criticism of yourself, and celebrities. Take Jon Stewart’s look at Caitlyn Jenner’s introduction to the world this week:

A day to remember

Today the world was introduced to Caitlyn Jenner – formerly Bruce Jenner – on a stunning cover of the July issue of Vanity Fair.

Sorry Keeks, they're not talking about baby West anymore...

Sorry Keeks, they’re not talking about baby West anymore…

It’s almost comical, seeing as just the night before, after months of struggling with fertility, Caitlyn’s stepdaughter Kim Kardashian had made the big announcement that she was finally pregnant with her second child with husband Kanye West.

You know, it’s like Caitlyn was having her own “Kanye moment,” so to speak. Except, of course that was not the case, as Kim even took to Twitter to celebrate the cover, writing: “Caitlyn Jenner for Vanity Fair Annie Leibovitz! How beautiful! Be happy, be proud, live life YOUR way!”

And this wasn’t just any magazine cover. This was certainly a lot bigger than any silly drama – not like the kind usually found on the family’s popular E! reality series. Continue reading

Burn, baby, burn

You ever have one of those days where you feel like you just can’t win? Well, I’ve had a lot of those lately. You know, well, how do The Rembrandts say it? “Your job’s a joke, you’re broke, your love life’s D.O.A…”

And today was one of those days. I’d been feeling pretty bummed already, because everyone and their mother was celebrating the “long weekend,” which, to me, was just another ‘ole three days of work.

But then of course, it’s me we’re talking about, so to add insult to injury, or more accurately, injury to injury, I noticed a scary red patch of skin on my face. Now, I had to go on steroids when I was in high school, because using an everyday, over-the-counter face wash was too harsh on my ridiculously over sensitive skin. Continue reading

Taylor comes “Clean” in latest interview… and I’m starting to get really hyped for this tour, guys

Haters be damned, I have to admit that I’m one of those crazy people who firmly believe that if only Taylor Swift were to meet me, we would totally be best friends. The only thing keeping us apart is you know, the fact that I’m not a TV star, supermodel, or like, child prodigy, and… I’ve never met her.

So of course I’m stoked whenever she gives an in-depth interview, such as the one that will appear in the June issue of Elle. This one feels especially accessible, because for it Taylor was interview by Tavi Gevinson, an actual close friend of the star.

It’s a long way to the top…

If you want to rock and roll. No, wait. That’s something else. Anyway, this post is pretty belated, but seeing as my sunburn still feels surprisingly raw, I believe it’s still timely enough to write about.

Last weekend my best friend and I decided to make the trek up to the Hollywood sign… it only took me two years of living out here to finally make it up to the touristy hike. C’est la vie.

After getting a bit lost on our way… to the hike’s entrance, we finally got off to a good start, feeling excited that we were making the journey together. A few minutes in and we’d already hit the first photo op. You climb a little mound and you can get a great shot of the Hollywood sign in the background. Bam – there it is. Continue reading

That time P!nk straight up shut down the Twitter trolls

P!nk has always been a great role model for girls, with her fierce personality and refusal to quiet her true feelings. And on Sunday she reminded everyone how badass she really is, when she masterfully shutdown critics of her weight.

Now, I’ve always been a fan of P!nk, I remember probably driving my parents crazy as I ran into the TV room after listening to each and every one of the songs on Can’t Take Me Home, excitedly detailing my experience and which was my new favorite. Continue reading

“It’s really hard to say congrats without sounding sarcastic.”

It can be difficult when everyone around you seems to be knocking it out of the park while you’re still just sitting on the bench. Not that you aren’t excited for your friends – of course you are! – but it can be hard pursuing a career in a creative field, especially in tough economic times.

So today I’m writing about one of the more unpleasant sides of that artistic dream, something I think we’ve all dealt with from time to time: the green-eyed monster, as it is so eloquently described. Continue reading
