Okay, okay. So I know there has been all this drama in the media lately about some beef between Drake and Meek Mill. But here’s the thing: I have no time for it. I’m like Lucille in Arrested Development. I won’t hear it and I won’t respond to it. Hell, I’m still upset that Drake and Nicki aren’t married like he says in “Moment 4 Life.” Moving on.
Yesterday the “Hold On, We’re Going Home” singer posted a snap to Instagram alongside two of his former Degrassi: The Next Generation co-stars – Daniel Clark, Adamo Ruggiero and Lauren Collins at the We Are Disorderly premiere in Toronto. Nostalgia alert.
If that wasn’t adorable enough, the former Jimmy Brooks captioned the photo – in which he can be seen absolutely beaming as he hugs his co-stars – “I think these kids went to my high school.” COME ON. How could anybody fight with this guy (I know – I lied. I brought it up again… but I swear that’s it.)?
Collins – aka the feisty Paige Michalchuk – also shared the photo, taken by George Pimentel, writing: “Some old friends got together last night at the #wearedisorderly premiere,” with Adamo (Marco!) adding: “yaaas what a sandwich.”
“Paige” also shared a series of amazing flashbacks, in honor of the two-week finale special Teen Nick was airing (the series will no longer air on the network, but will debut as the reborn Degrassi: Next Class on Netflix in 2016 – which I wrote about earlier, here) along with the reflective special: It Goes There: Degrassi’s Most Talked About Moments.
Manny (Cassie Steele), Spinner (Shane Kippel), Jimmy, Alex (Deanna Casaluce), Marco, Ellie (Stacey Farber), and Emma (Miriam McDonald) were spotted posing in one serious throwback shot, which she captioned: “Giving good #tbt today in honor of the @teennick special tomorrow night! Our last day shooting season 5, most of us were “graduating” and didn’t know if we’d be back the following year. One of my most memorable days on set.”
She joined in on the next photo – which also featured on-screen on-off boyfriend Spinner, Jimmy, onscreen best bud Marco, and Peter (Jamie Johnston). She wrote: “#tbt this motley crew in my dressing room. We always wound up here when we were hiding from ADs/avoiding tutoring/retelling the dumbest inside jokes to death.”
A final snap showed her cuddling up to Liberty (Sarah Barrable-Tishauer) and J.T. (Ryan Cooley) – whose death in a gang-related stabbing may or may not still haunt me. “One more cause THESE TWO!! #tbt” Collins gushed.
McDonald also reunited with her onscreen bestie recently – Steele – posing in a series of three Instagram snaps that truly warmed my nostalgia-prone heart. First she showed off the pair’s matching, shimmery gold Flash tattoos as she noted “Branded with @cassandrasteele.”
“Yin and yang @cassandrasteele,” she wrote, in an adorable photo of the two sharing warm smiles as they sat side by side. She followed that up with an even cuter pic of her laughing – reminding us of classic Manny and Emma – as she joked: “When she lets me read her text message…… @cassandrasteele”
With all this Next Generation nostalgia, here’s hoping Netflix decides to eventually pick up some of those old seasons, too. Either way, long live Degrassi!
Until next time,
